ABOUT THE YMCA OF SIMCOE/MUSKOKA:
The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka currently serves over 125,000 people in Simcoe County and the Districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound in Central Ontario. The YMCA is one of the largest charities within our service area, providing over $1.1 million annually of support and access to our programs and services.

With a staff complement of 1200+ full and part-time staff, combined with over 1,000 volunteers and donors, and an operating budget of $39 million, the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka serves over 30,000 annual members and participants through its eight membership centres in Barrie, Collingwood, Gravenhurst, Innisfil, Midland, Orillia, Parry Sound, and Wasaga Beach; 3,000 Child Care families across a number of communities; registers 5,000 day campers in addition to 1000 overnight campers at YMCA Camp Kitchikewana on Beausoleil Island; over 15,000 people through leadership development, outdoor education and family programs at YMCA Geneva Park; and counsels over 20,000 people in several community development programs.

GENERAL FUNCTION:
Reporting to the General Manager of Philanthropy the Coordinator will play a key role in the YMCA responsible for an annual event fundraising program of approximately $200,000. This role will lead the coordination of the annual Move to Give Event, YMCA Spotlight Gala and third-party fundraising events including relationships with donors, participants, volunteers and sponsors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are typical for this position. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

• Demonstrate strong support and commitment to the mission and core values of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka and the YMCA in Canada
• Ensure fundraising event revenue targets are met or exceeded annually
• Lead and organize volunteer/staff teams to create event plans, budgets and timelines to promote and deliver strong fundraising events
• Plays a key role in developing and implementing strategies to achieve optimum revenue with core annual event fundraising programs and by ensuring that donor records are accurate, recognition is timely and communications consistent
• Ensure, with support, event wrap up including committee debrief, reporting, fund collection (financial tracking forms), recognition using the appropriate YMCA staff and board members to be in attendance prepared with briefing and speaking notes (photography etc.)
• Arrange for registration of YMCA representation at events when necessary, prepare YMCA representatives with background and briefing notes
• Represent the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka in the community
• Understand the donor pyramid and the importance of an integrated fundraising program
• Promote the support of donors to YMCA staff in order to cultivate staff participation in signature events
• Recruit and build positive relationships with event volunteers, staff leaders and event participants
• Support corporate sponsorship seeking at the community and regional level
• Create training modules, recruitment strategy and execute a plan for an Association wide “Special Events” committee
• Database maintenance, including data entry and creation of appropriate materials necessary to maximize event-based fundraising
• Analyze results and prepare reports to celebrate, tweak and inform future initiatives

JOB KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS:
The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

• College or University Degree (preferred), diploma or certificate in fundraising and development or a related field, or an appropriate combination of education and experience
• 2-5 years in a fundraising environment, preferably with the responsibility of raising funds
• Ability to foster teamwork, inspire others to a common goal and influence without authority
• Proficiency in maintaining websites and social media interfaces
• Able to manage sensitive data and maintain highest degree of confidentiality
• Proactive; shows initiative; anticipates issues in advance
• Self-motivated, resourceful and able to work independently
• Project-management experience and/or familiarity with situations requiring setting priorities, juggling many tasks, setting and following budgets and time management
• High attention to detail and accuracy and very strong relationship building skills
• Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience using databases and managing data – experience with Raisers Edge an asset
• A desire to work in a fast paced situation, with coaching and opportunity to learn and grow
• Understanding of CRA guidelines regarding receipting and commitment to stay current on changes to guidelines and regulations
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License
• Access to an operational Vehicle
• Mandated training is required before or shortly after commencement of work
