Enjoy fitness programs for older adults at the YMCA Staying active while having fun is what older adult fitness programs are about at the Y. Our programs will help you to maintainin flexibility and build strength and heart health.

GENTLE FIT
 A gentle way to start if you are looking to get moving.  We use chairs to help with balance, and include some strength and cardio to help you get going.  If you are new to exercise or looking for a class to get started, this is the class for you!

GRAVITY
Gravity is a strength training class using the Gravity Training System.  This workout uses an incline plane and gravity resistance to give you a full body workout, kick starting your metabolism and helping you meet your goals.

LEARN TO …
A class for beginner exercisers, or those looking to try something new.  Qualified YMCA Trainers will take the time to introduce you to new exercises, and workout at a slower pace.

ON THE MOVE
A full body workout including cardiovascular and muscle conditioning for the older adult. This low impact workout incorporates a variety of fitness apparatus to improve strength, balance, flexibility and posture.

PICKLEBALL
Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in Ontario.  It is a combination of tennis, basminton, and table tennis.  The game is played on a badminton sized court with a whiffle ball the size of a tennis ball and a short-handled paddle larger than a ping pong paddle.

TAIJIFIT
TaijiFit Flow’s objective is to develop and improve a state of flow by using Taiji (Tai Chi) moves as the “content” of workout. Creating an ambiance by introducing a soothing and calming music to high energy music, choreograph at the same time maintaining the authenticity of Tai Chi practice.

YOGA & GENTLE YOGA
Through postures, meditation and breathing exercises, you will learn to bring yourself to a peaceful frame of mind.  Improved strength and flexibility are the physical benefits or practicing yoga.  

WALK & WEIGHTS
This program is designed for beginner exercisers to begin with light weights paired with walking around the track. This is low impact on the body and a great way to exercise along with socializing with others in the class. Please dress accordingly to the temperature on the track. As the weather gets colder so will the track.

ZUMBA
Zumba is a spicy new program that combines Latin and international music with hot dance steps. Enjoy becoming fit while dancing and having fun!
