Q – Do you offer programs for children with disabilities?
A – The YMCA Day Camps has an inclusion program that offers an inclusion counselor for one week at no addition cost to the parent. Our programming thrives on inclusive activities, allowing children to have choice. We strive to maintain an inclusive environment in ensuring all children have a successful camp experience. Q – Who is eligible to go to camp?
A – YMCA camps offer a positive and inclusive experience for all children and youth.
Q – Can I give permission for someone else to pick up my child?
A – If you are arranging for somebody other than yourself or those listed on the approved pickups on the registration forms to pick up your child, you will have to provide written documentation to the Day Camp on who will be picking up your child that day. ID will be required upon sign out.
Q- What do I do if I need to pick up my camper early?
A – Please notify your child’s counselor at morning drop-off so they can relay the location of the camp and your child at that time.
Q – What happens if I am late picking up my camper?
A – Your camper will automatically be enrolled in our extended care program. We will charge a fee for late pick-up. Late stay campers will enjoy activities in our extended care program.
Q – What does my child need to bring to camp?
A – Your child should bring the following items to camp: appropriate clothing (based on specific camp and weather), running shows, bathing suit, towel, refillable water bottle, hat, sunscreen, nut free lunch and snacks.
Q – What should my child refrain from bringing to camp?
A – Anything valuable! iPods, iPads, iPhones, money, DSs or anything else of value should be left at home in order to ensure the safety of your child’s belongings, as well as their safety and participation in group activities.
Q – What if my child does not want to participate in a particular activity?
A – All campers must participate in all activities. The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka Day Camps are committed to the development of the campers’ life skills through group activities and exposure to diverse athletic, fun and educational experiences.
Q – What if my child has medications?
A – Please inform your child’s counselor of any allergies, medications, or other special concerns that will be valuable for the counselor to know. A Medication Form will be required to be filled out regarding the medication and dosage. On the medication form you can choose that your child or the staff administers the medication.
Q – What should my child wear to camp?
A – We recommend your child wear clothes that are suitable for outdoor activities. Dressing appropriately for the weather in easy-to-remove layers is also important. Remember: Campers get dirty when they are playing hard. Please do not send your child in “good” clothes. The standard camp footwear is running shoes or athletic sandals (closed back, not flip flops).
Q – How do I register for camp?
A – 1.Register online with your credit card at www.ymcaofsimcoemuskoka.ca
2. In person at your local YMCA Membership Centres by cash, debit, cheque, Visa or MC.
3. Fax completed application forms to the YMCA at (705) 325-9633. Faxes must be accompanied by a valid credit card number.
