The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka Strategic Plan 2012-2017
Over the last eight months, through the use of technology, and good old fashioned face-to-face meaningful conversations, we have begun to better understand the role the YMCA can help play in our communities.
Making a difference in our community
Communities are asking us to help facilitate conversations that will bring positive change for people across Simcoe and Muskoka. Our youth are facing an unprecedented health crisis and discouraging unemployment stats. Families are squeezed for time and money, and older generations are disillusioned about rising costs and the need for strong leadership in the future.
Partnering with external organizations, the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is set to help bring about changes that will :
•create opportunities for people to learn, lead, work and play
•inspire youth and young adults to feel a sense of belonging and community leadership
•investment in people, programs and places to impact community health.
My Y for good
My Y for good. Simple words that carry a great deal of meaning, and the foundation of our strategic plan. My Y is an expression of ownership, and welcomes the community to share the personal meaning of the Y in their lives. Real stories from real people about the impact of the Y in their lives to be shared, celebrated and held up as the realization of our vision to inspire people to reach their full potential.
For good. The words indicate positivity and permanence, two things the Y has stood for over time and will continue to deliver in the future. From the renovation and construction of our health fitness and recreation centres, to the smiles on the faces of kids mastering a new skill at camp, there is a great deal of goodness and rich history to be experienced through the Y.
With a sense of determination to create more hopeful futures and inspiring stories, you can expect your Y to be more visible and accessible than ever before while working to meet and exceed the expectations of the communities we live, work and play in.
Keeping the conversation going is critical to making sure we are on track throughout the coming years.
