What We Offer | Camp Kitchi | YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka

YMCA Camp Kitchikewana

Waterbug Club (6-9 years old) – 1 Week Camp
A perfect introduction to camp life for first time campers! The Waterbug Club program places special emphasis on creativity, developing friendships and having fun. During the week-long program, staff introduce campers to traditional programs, land and water activities, games and sing-songs. Waterbug Club campers participate in a different skill area each day – preparing them for choosing skill area specialties when they return to Kitchi for the Traditional two-week camp experience. The Waterbug Club is an exciting way to start your child’s summer camp experience.

Traditional Camp (7-14 years old) – 2 Week Camp
Our Traditional two-week co-ed camps are divided according to age and gender. Each section offers a blend of skill instruction, interest groups, cabin choice, evening programs, all-camp activities. Campers have the opportunity to select two skill areas they would like to focus on (sailing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, arts and crafts, drama, environmental explorers or guitar). Depending on age, campers will either participate in a one night overnight hike or canoe trip or a two night overnight canoe trip within the National Park or local lakes and rivers. All trips depart from and return to camp. Special programs such as the Lumberman and Voyageur Games, Kitchi Olympics, our 4th session Annual Musical and Sailing Regattas assist in creating a well-rounded camp experience.

Sailing Camp (12-14 years old) – 2 Week Camp
Participants will take part in extensive sailing lessons receiving 3 hours of sailing instruction each day. Campers will focus on achieving CANSail levels and will have exposure to different types of sailboats and teaching practices. Campers will participate in most aspects of traditional camp programming. The highlight of this program is a sail around the south end of Beausoleil Island.
