YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka Immigrant Services Collecting Food for Holiday Drive

December 14th, 2017 by YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka

The holidays can be a stressful time, especially if you’re struggling in a new country and trying to make ends meet. The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka Immigrant Services in Barrie is trying to lessen that burden by collecting food for a holiday drive to benefit local families served by the organization.

As one of the primary settlement agencies within Simcoe/Muskoka, YMCA Immigrant Services acts as a ‘first stop’ for newcomers, supporting their continual process of settlement. Services include everything from English language classes and information on social services, schools, health care, housing and recreational facilities, to assistance with completing forms, referrals to education, government and community services, employment counselling and more.

YMCA Immigrant Services is collecting non-perishable foods through the month of December and beyond, to ensure the families they serve have access to food when they need it most.

Building strong community relationships, having a presence in our neighbourhood and giving in times of need is a great example of what the Y is all about. We hope this donation provides some relief and removes barriers for those struggling over the holiday season.

Participants can drop off donations at The Bayfield Mall located at 320 Bayfield Street Unit 63 A, Barrie, Ontario.
