WORK LOCATION

This role will be based out of our Tim Horton Memorial Camp location, located near Parry Sound, Ontario. Travel may be required from time to time (Canada and USA) to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting into the Director, Camp Operations, this role has been updated to meet the Foundation’s strategic prioritization of operational excellence in service of high impact, measurable youth development programs. The Senior Manager, Camp Operations will provide leadership to the camp operations specific to their camp location. This includes oversight to program, food service, property, housekeeping, wellness, administration, risk management and emergency response. This role will work collaboratively with the operations and standards, program innovation, and campers and families team to ensure a safe and impactful program experience for all participants. Additionally, this role will act as a Foundation representative and build relationships with Tim Hortons restaurant owners, local community partners, and First Nation, Indigenous, Inuit and Metis communities local to the camp location.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Program Manager to ensure high quality, high impact participant experience.
  • Work collaboratively with program innovation, and campers and families team to streamline the camper experience while focusing on participant safety and wellbeing.
  • Recruit, coach and manage ongoing performance of program, food service, property, administration, and wellness teams.
  • Ensure assigned budget is prepared, managed, and achieved as per THFC guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensure the full operationalization and continuous improvement of THFC standards, policies, and procedures at specific camp location.
  • Manage achievement and development through coaching, feedback and full utilization of the Foundation’s Learning and Achievement System.
  • Establish site specific protocols for operational execution.
  • Ensure the health, safety, risk management and emergency preparedness of camp location. Act as the primary site lead and follow the established escalation chart in the event of an emergency. Ensure training and competency of all departments with respect to risk management, health and safety, and emergency procedures. Annually update site specific Emergency Response Plan.
  • Ensure operational excellence and guest satisfaction standards are adhered to.
  • Ensure program reach is maximized at camp location as per allocated camper target and regional representation plan for year-round programming.
  • Ensure communication, registration, and all applicable paperwork is collected and complete for non-summer program site use.
  • Oversee and act as the site-specific lead on the camper travel program.
  • Establish site specific local operating procedures and obtain approval from Director, Camp Operations.
  • Ensure Managers develop and implement training and onboarding programs as per their department’s standards.
  • Work collaboratively with program operations, program innovation, and campers and families teams to ensure operational priorities and tactics are in service of high impact youth experiences.
  • Establish collaborative, cross-functional relationships with all departments within the Foundation.
  • Steward, maintain and rebuild relationships with local-to-camp Indigenous, Inuit, Metis and First Nations and Leaders.
  • Activate Restaurant Owner engagement initiatives with regional owner group.
  • Support the implementation of partnership initiatives at location as per the program partnership framework.
  • Support the coordination of on-site events.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives at the camp location including project management on capital and growth projects.
  • Ensure the Foundation’s standards, policies and procedures are being followed through regular monitoring, self-audits, and tours.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree and/or college background in related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of related experience in camp, resort, or hospitality management
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in managing and directing budgets
  • Demonstrated success in leading, building and coaching a team
  • Strong experience in leading and achieving strategic objectives
  • Demonstrated experience with risk management and crisis response
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time at camp and to work a 10/3 schedule during the summer program
  • Good understanding of how to manage capital, budgets, resources, and assets
  • Solid presentation skills and ability to network within the community
  • Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector search (VSS)
  • Bilingualism in French and English required at some locations
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Demonstrated ability to create and sustain relationships with community partners
  • Experience with change management considered an asset
  • Creative, innovative thinker; ability to solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable drivers abstract
