The Friends is recruiting Independent Living Assistants (I.L.A.) in the Parry Sound area. We provide comprehensive training, support and an inclusive team environment. You may be interested in free education to become Personal Support Worker (P.S.W.) and other skill development.

I.L.A.’s provide supportive service to individuals living independently in their homes. Personal care, activities of daily living and encouraging/facilitating client ability to live independently are key areas of support.
The Friends provide community support through a variety of programs. As an I.L.A. you will work with a diverse group of clients allowing you to develop a broad range of skills. Whether you work on-site in our housing program or visit individual client homes in the community, educational opportunities and a comprehensive on the job training program with our dedicated team will contribute to your success.

Qualifications:
- interest/experience supporting seniors and adults with physical disabilities living in their own home with health care needs
- background/training in health related field is an asset but not necessary
- understanding of and commitment to independent living and client right to direct their own care
- excellent physical strength and stamina
- ability to work with direction and independently
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- sound judgement and discretion in confidential matters
- reliable vehicle
All staff are provided Personal Protective Equipment if necessary.
