Full Job Description

Concierge/Activity Aide “Active Job”

Reports to: General Manager/Activity Director


– Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;

– Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills;

– Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate positive relationships;

– Ability to adapt to continually changing priorities;

– Self-motivated with the ability to perform work assignments with minimal supervision and good judgment;

– Demonstrated professionalism, tact, and diplomacy in interactions with others;

– Demonstrated satisfactory attendance levels, performance levels, disciplinary history and positive work references;

– Previous experience working with seniors, preferably in a retirement residence or long term care setting.



– Actively screen individuals as they enter the Gardens of Parry Sound by completing a health screening questionnaire and conducting temperature checks

– Maintaining proper records for tracing purposes

– Resident temperatures at breakfast and dinner.


Reception, transfer or take messages as required

– Proper phone etiquette, identify yourself to the caller

– Answer questions and direct residents

– Refill Guest sign in binder with new blank pages and move the “sign in tab”

– Prepare resident sign in book

– Photocopies – Forms

– Make Hair Salon Appointments

– Tidy reception area; get rid of clutter on back credenza

– Distribute mail/Parcels to residents as needed

– Record toners for both photocopiers on log page

– Recycle toners as needed

– Revise residents phone list and meal time log

– Serve coffee, tea etc. during nutrition breaks

– Create or revise labels, signs, posters, documents as required by managers

– Keep reception photocopy paper filled

– Empty shredder as needed

– Reminder calls to residents for appointments if requested or wake up calls

– Back up when other concierge is away or ill

– Duties as requested by the management team.

Accounting help

– Filing, shredding

– Petty cash logging and balancing

– Resident account logs for meals/incidental charges

– Make employee name tags

– Revise employee call in sheets as needed

– Stuff residents invoices into envelopes


– Birthday Cards

– Help with special events

– Assist with Happy Hour

– Run activities with Residents

– Starting/executing planned activities as per the monthly calendar

– Back up when an extra person is needed or away


– Weekend Tours/Inquiry Calls; get name and phone number and call Russell

– Duties to be assigned

Dining Room

– Keep an eye open on reception desk in case someone needs help when in
dining room

– Assist PSW’s to porter residents to dining room

– Assist with serving beverages- juice, coffee & tea, milk as requested

– Other needs/questions that residents may have

– Serve in the private dining room if required

– Clear dishes if required
