Overview

The Parry Sound Golf and Country Club is a semi-private 18-hole golf course located just outside of the Town of Parry Sound. We are looking to add an experienced Golf Course Mechanic to our Turf Maintenance team. The Golf Course Mechanic reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and oversees a comprehensive maintenance program of all golf course maintenance equipment and 72 golf carts. This program includes the repair and maintenance of all equipment, as well as keeping records of and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. The Golf Course Mechanic must properly communicate any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the Golf Course Superintendent and schedules repairs, so maintenance practices are not interrupted. The Golf Course Mechanic must also place safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair all turf related equipment and golf cart fleet.
  • Schedule/coordinate preventative maintenance programs to all turf related equipment and golf cart fleet.
  • Set up and sharpening of all mowers to the desired specifications of the Golf Course Superintendent.
  • Keep detailed records for all turf equipment and golf cart fleet.
  • Keep detailed records of parts inventory and purchasing.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe service area and maintenance building.
  • Adhere to yearly budgets and provide equipment analysis.
  • Ability to move and lift heavy objects.

Employment Skills/Qualifications

  • Highly motivated individual with positive attitude able to thrive in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills.
  • Diploma/Certificate as turf equipment technician or equivalent experience as mechanic.
  • Experience in maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel engines.
  • Experience in hydraulics and electrical systems.
  • Experience in small engine maintenance/repair.
  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel.
  • Experience and knowledge of reel mower setup, sharpening, and repair.
  • Experience in welding and fabrication an asset.
  • Knowledge of playing conditions and the ability to play the game of golf an asset.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

Compensation/Schedule

  • Seasonal, Full Time Position (March 15th – December 15th).
  • 36-40 hours per week Monday-Friday (except in case of emergency)
  • $26-$31 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
