Housekeeper (night shift)

Qualifications:
-High school graduation required
-3-5 years experience in janitorial/housekeeping work and within a similar setting (retirement home, long term care home, etc) is an asset
-Basic knowledge of food handling, cleaning procedures and cleaning products.
-Able to exercise moderate judgment in decision-making, within guidelines where some gaps in knowledge or information may exist.
-Contact with clients/residents occurs routinely and requires ordinary, common courtesy and respect.
-Able to work alone with very minimal contact with other staff.
-Able to demonstrate good verbal skills when dealing with clients (polite, courteous).
-Must have good written skills showing correct level of grammar.
-Must be able to concentrate on immediate task for a few hours, with occasional slow times.
-Physically able to vacuum, climb stairs, wash floors, operate floor cleaning machine, and carry large bundles (laundry).
-Able to follow explicit instructions and deal with multiple tasks.
-This job consists of routine, defined tasks within one role and one location.
-No responsibility for supervision of other staff or involvement with organizational management.
-First aid/CPR certified.

Hours of Work:
Every 2nd weekend (overnight) plus on call opportunities

Must remain on-site throughout shift and ensure day shift has arrived before leaving. Never leaves the building without another staff member on-site.
