Maintenance Manager

Industrial Filter Manufacturing

Position Description:

Job purpose
Direct or participate and oversee all daily maintenance activities

Duties and responsibilities
• Follow and enforce compliance of all Health & Safety rules and protocols
• Follow and enforce IFM’s Code of Conduct
• Collaborate and liaise with Production Manager and Production Supervisor to understand current equipment maintenance needs
• Guide the development, and manage the implementation of a Preventative Maintenance Program
• Become familiar with the operation and maintenance of all production equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair defective/malfunctioning physical plant facilities structures and equipment, including but not limited to:
o HVAC systems
o Lighting including emergency lighting
o External main and ancillary building structures
o Snow removal and grounds maintenance equipment.
o Fork lifts
o Racking Systems
o Semi-automated fabric welding lines
o Ultrasonic welding machines
o Injection molding and related equipment
o Hydraulic presses
o Air compressors
o Shop tools and equipment
• Coordinate the identification of the need for and stock of necessary replacement parts
o Place orders directly with Vendors or submit Purchases Requisitions
• Manage Maintenance Job Board
o Create Maintenance Work Orders and ensure their proper completion
o Assign tasks and delegate responsibilities to Maintenance Department personnel
• Collaborate with machine Operators to implement best practices in the interest of minimizing equipment
breakdowns and train operators on basic equipment maintenance and trouble shooting
• Contribute to the development and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures for equipment use and production processes
• Provide emergency and non-emergency troubleshooting and repair of defective/malfunctioning equipment
• Audit and Maintain current and accurate Repair & Maintenance Journals
• Communicate with Vendors and Sub contractors
o Coordinate equipment and resource schedules
o Source new Vendors (equipment or supplies) as required
• Adopt and apply 6S lean principles and methods to work areas, tool rooms and processes

• Contribute to the development and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures for equipment
operation and production processes.
• Participate in the Feedback session and Performance Review process for Maintenance Department
personnel in conjunction with and under the guidance of VP Operations
• Develop a tracking system for replacement parts (usage, inventory)
• Assess and analyze operations for improvements in efficiency and quality

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
• Familiarity with industrial tools and equipment
• Previous experience in industrial maintenance or other related fields
• Injection molding, ultrasonics, automation experience an asset
• Proficiency in reading and writing English
• Competency in basic math calculations
• Basic computer competency
• Superior organizational skills
• Task prioritization and time management skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Team work

Working conditions
• Be available for on-call consultations and/or repairs as required
• Flexible breaks and lunch hour times (dictated by repair demands)

Physical requirements
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
• Frequent periods of bending, standing, stooping and walking
