Maintenance Worker

This is a permanent, full-time position available immediately. This position will assist with the maintenance of schools and other Board buildings, grounds and related equipment in the Muskoka Area. This position will report to the Area Maintenance Supervisor.

Duties of the position include:

  • Working as a member of a team to apply skills and knowledge to maintain Board facilities and equipment in a functional, safe condition and include the following:
  • Carry out repairs, new installations and renovations on building systems such as plumbing equipment, heating systems and pumping systems, in accordance with current codes and regulations.
  • Troubleshoot, adjust and repair building components and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and building systems.
  • The successful candidate, although maintaining a plumbing background, will be expected to perform all aspects of facility maintenance.

Qualifications Required:

  • The individual shall hold a Plumbing License, valid in the Province of Ontario with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
  • Experience in making minor/major installations and repairs to building and components.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision to perform assigned duties.
  • Hold a valid drivers’ licence.
  • Ability to work with others as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate effectively with a variety of people.
  • Must be physically fit to perform the duties required.

Hours of Work: 8 hours/day, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Hourly Wage: $24.00 (min.) – $27.73 (max.)
