Maintenance Worker

Overview
We are looking for a Maintenance Person to join our team at Best Western Plus in Parry Sound. This role is key to ensuring that the hotel’s maintenance standards are upheld, contributing to a smooth and profitable operation while delivering a comfortable, well-maintained environment for both guests and staff.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist with preventative maintenance and complete work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching walls, etc., ensuring the hotel is well-maintained and meets quality standards.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks.
• Check and make minor repairs to electrical systems (e.g., air conditioning controls, TV sets, lighting).
• Assist with routine maintenance and repairs of hotel equipment including HVAC, boilers, laundry and kitchen equipment, pool equipment, plumbing systems, and more.
• Maintain and service the hotel pool, including chemical adjustments and filter cleaning.
• Ensure the building’s exterior is well-maintained (e.g., landscaping, snow removal, painting, gardening).
• Refurbish and repair furniture, fixtures, doors, and windows as needed; paint and refinish when required.
• Respond courteously to guest inquiries, complaints, or requests to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Operate heavy machinery and work in extreme temperatures when necessary.
• Keep the hotel grounds clean and tidy to uphold curb appeal.
• Follow safety procedures for the storage and use of chemicals, especially related to pool maintenance, in compliance with company policy and health & safety regulations.
• Conduct routine testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting, etc., in line with property policy.
• Work closely with the supervisor to complete tasks efficiently and minimize downtime, contributing to overall property profitability.
• Be available to work regularly as per the schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in a maintenance-related role with a proven track record of success.
• A college or university diploma from a recognized hospitality program is an asset.
• Pool operating certification is a valuable asset.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and actionable insights.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
• Leadership skills with the ability to take initiative.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Fluent in English, with the ability to communicate well with guests and team members.
• A self-starter with a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
• A team player willing to assist co-workers as needed.
• Ability to climb, stand, walk, and routinely lift 25 to 50 lbs.
• Ability to follow instructions and provide updates on work assignments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
