Enthusiastic team player wanted at a local, fast-growing smoked fish processing facility at the Parry Sound airport complex. Food handler’s certificate and own transportation is required. Seasonal position with possibility of long-term employment. Daytime shifts are 8 hours. Work days will be Monday-Fridays with some Saturdays. We require some flexibility in shift start/end times but can also be flexible to your needs; no work on Sundays or holiday Mondays. The successful candidate will be a Food-lover, enjoy what they do, be a bit of a neat freak yet fun to be around. The ability to learn and adapt quickly, with good troubleshooting skill is highly valued. You will need strong organizational skills and obsessive attention to detail. You should be comfortable with working in a team yet independently as well. We are a small, family business with a reputation for high quality that is dependent on helping each other with the changing demands of the day. We try to keep the work environment fun with banter and good music, but a big piece of that positive energy will come from you!

Responsibilities:

prepare ingredients before processing as per documented recipes and schedule, including measuring and verification of proper ingredient
receive and properly store incoming ingredients
processing of end products in an efficient and safe manner with extreme attention to detail and quality of end product
ensure lot code identification numbers and processing parameters are documented
operate smoking machinery and basic equipment (scales, thermometers, knives etc) in a safe and efficient manner
receive training for recognition of equipment malfunctions or quality/food safety issues
maintain overall cleanliness and sanitation of work area and equipment
adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety and quality policies
Strong commitment to enforcing and maintaining company policies and procedures
Qualifications

previous experience in a food manufacturing facility
accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to detect the presence of a quality issue or equipment malfunction
good communication skills, along with simple mathematical abilities
ability to focus and work independently with, at-times, minimal supervision
physically capable of performing the demands of the role
ability to lift 25 kg and stand for several hours at a time
ability to move from one task to another with minimal distraction
MS Excel knowledge would be an asset
