Full job description
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Recreation Worker assists in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for the residents of Lakeland Long-Term Care.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports and embraces a resident-centered social culture
- Assists in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for the residents
- Assists with the maintenance of appropriate department records including: assessments, evaluations of planned programs and charting
- Maintains effective communication with residents, families, volunteers and staff of other departments, keeping them informed of current and upcoming events;
- Participates in team meetings to plan resident centered programs;
- Assists residents to participate in scheduled outings;
- Preparing, carrying out and evaluating daily activities;
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role
Qualifications
- College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent is required;
- Previous experience working with older adults is an asset;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Valid G Class driver’s license, clean drivers abstract required;
- Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
- Proof of 2-step TB test; Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
