Relief Operator

This position will rotate between different stations during a work week, performing various roles including relief roasting, material handling, staging, filling, sealing/palletizing and flavouring. This role has a strong multi-tasking component and reports to our Associate Roastery Manager and Head Roaster.

Perform material handling tasks including forklift use; unloading green beans, shipping, receiving and change overs.
Work at a process station to convert roasted coffee into packaged coffee ready to ship to customers.
Stations include; relief roasting, bag staging and preparation, filling, sealing, case packing/palletizing, wash station and flavouring.
Continuous monitoring of the materials and equipment at each station to ensure quality standards are met.
Shared responsibility for the mechanical performance and cleaning/maintenance of all process equipment.
Other duties include maintenance, cleaning and shutdown.
Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.
Communicate effectively with other team members and senior staff on progress and observations.

Forklift experience.
Experience in a quality-oriented manufacturing environment in an operator role is an asset.
Proven ability to work well in teams.
A self-starter who owns personal objectives and takes initiative.
Work in harmony with others on the team and supported by the Leaders.
Willing to accept feedback on your work and interactions with others.
Common sense and an ability to solve problems independently.
Good communication skills along with multitasking/time management ability.
Strong attention to detail and ability to focus.
Other Requirements

Regular work is day shift – Monday – Friday. Some seasonal overtime on short notice.
Due to the nature of the business shift extensions / adjustments may be necessary from time to time.
Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and periodic manual shifting of 150 pounds with supplementary equipment assistance.
Capability to stand, stretch, lift and bend throughout an entire shift.
Able to multi-task during process intervals to maximize efficiency while maintaining quality focus.
