Opportunity 

Reporting to the Superintendent and Supervisor of Public Works, the Mechanic will be responsible for the Township’s fleet which includes maintenance, certifying, repairs and rebuilding of light and heavy trucks and equipment.

Position Responsibilities

Responsible for daily maintenance and annual inspections of the Township’s fleet (tandem trucks, 1  ¾  ½ ton pickup trucks, loaders, backhoes, graders, lawn tractors with snowblower attachments, chainsaws, trailers).

Responsible for ordering parts inventory to ensure continuity of service while anticipating parts requirements.

Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Skills and Qualifications

Education is required at the level of Grade 12 or equivalent.
310T Technician license required; 310T and 310S Technician licenses preferred.
Experience working on heavy and light equipment.
Experience working on snowplow equipment would be considered an asset.
Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems and can be proficient in the use of gas, arc and mig welding as well as hydraulic hose crimping.
Knowledge on using diagnostic systems.
Must possess a valid Class “G” Drivers License and a good driving record.
