Welcome to the YMCA Spotlight Gala!

YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka Gala Celebrates $75,000 Raised for New Barrie Location.

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is thrilled to announce the overwhelming success of the ‘Blueprints of Our Future’ fundraising gala, which took place on November 17 at Liberty North. The gala brought the YMCA community together, and the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is deeply grateful to all who joined them in support of the new Barrie YMCA.

Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of supporters, an impressive $75,000 was raised to advance the development of the new Barrie location. This substantial contribution is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the community to building a vibrant and inclusive centre of belonging, potential, and connection right here in Barrie.

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka extends their thanks to our exclusive media sponsor Kool FM, Rock 95, Barrie 360,  our entertainment sponsor The Madison Group, RBC Wealth Management, as well as lead sponsors Grant Thornton LLP Canada, and Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities. These organizations’ generous support is vital in creating a brighter future for the Barrie community.

The Barrie YMCA will be a modern center of community, offering best-in-class facilities and programs. The new facility will provide a wide range of services, including YMCA health and fitness programs, specialized programming such as a cardiac and cancer rehabilitation program in partnership with the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, and a 12-room housing program in partnership with Youth Haven – Simcoe County’s first standalone transitional housing unit for youth.

Jill Tettmann, CEO of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, expressed her gratitude to all who attended the gala, “The success of this event is a testament to the community’s dedication to our shared vision. Your support is making a profound difference, and we are excited to embark on this journey together.”

With the lease agreement with the City of Barrie now signed, the YMCA is eager to develop the full site plan for 535 Bayview Drive. This plan will encompass architectural design and engineering work, along with consultation with the City of Barrie Planning Department to ensure the new building aligns with all planning requirements. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2024, marking the next phase in making this exciting project a reality.

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka wishes to express its gratitude to all donors, community supporters, and the Province of Ontario, whose generous contributions exceeded $29 million, making the construction

of the new facility possible. They are also grateful for the support and encouragement received from the community, including the utilization of proceeds from the sale of the former Grove Street Y to support this initiative.
