What We Do
The YMCA is dedicated to helping everyone in the community feel healthy, strong, safe, and included so they can reach their full potential.
In this time like no other, we need a place like no other. A place where we GO TOGETHER. That’s this place – our YMCA.
At the Y, we GO TOGETHER because we believe…
…The best prescription for wellness is belonging.
The Y connects thousands of people of all ages to the supports they need to live a healthy lifestyle. 1 in 10 YMCA members receive financial assistance to access our programs if they can’t afford to pay full fees.
…Every child needs a safe place to learn and belong.
As the largest provider of licensed child care in our community, we welcome children from over 4,000 families across over 65 licensed child care sites.
We provide a safe space for 5,000 children to learn new skills and make new friends through our Day Camp Programs.
The Y supports early childhood education by delivering its national Play to Learn child care curriculum across its centres.
…All young people have leadership potential, when someone helps them see it.
The Y supports youth by providing opportunities to earn certificates, high school credits, and volunteer hours.
The Y connects local youth to bursaries and scholarships so that they can access post-secondary education.
…Health is so much more than muscle tone.
The Y partners with local hospitals and health services to deliver rehabilitation programs for individuals recovering from cancer, cardiac incidents and living with chronic health conditions.
…The future of our communities depends on all of us.
The Y delivers English as a Second Language Classes to new Canadians settling in our community.
They Y supports over 5,000 unemployed or underemployed individuals each year, helping them on their journey to meaningful employment opportunities through our Employment Services centres.
