Happy New Year and welcome to 2013!

This is often a busy time of year in our Health, Fitness and Recreation centres as people across the country create resolutions to ‘get in shape’, diet, and be more active. We love to see people out and involved in the MyY experience, however we often see people come in with unrealistic goals and expectations only to burn out before the end of January, feeling defeated and losing their resolve.

Paving a new path for 2013

For 2013, rather than another resolution, we encourage you to make lifestyle changes.  Resolutions are built up in such a way that we can almost guarantee failure; with unrealistic and/or unspecified targets and goals, inadequate supports in place and pressure to set a resolution even if you don’t feel committed.

Yet, if you commit to changing your life for the better, regardless of what day of the year it is, if you feel committed and ready to start living your life in a healthier, more productive manner and incorporate small, manageable changes into your daily and weekly routine, you are much more apt to succeed, by setting yourself up for success.

  1. I know it is 2014 but I also enjoyed my time at the y in 2013 where Mom and I joined I really LOVED! Winnie’s classes as 2014 approached for the first little while we had Winnie but then she had to resign to do her hip she can come back for visits but not to instruct better then nothing she is still COOL! to me now I am taking aqua fit with Kaitlyn and pilates with Carrie both classes are GOOD!
