Production Optics Specialist

We are seeking a Production Associate to join our Spherical Optics team at Raytheon ELCAN. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with skilled professionals, leverage advanced technologies, and contribute to the success of Raytheon ELCAN.

Reporting to the Sr. Supervisor, the Production Associate will work in collaboration with the team in Optics Manufacturing to increase and improve the production of optical components. The successful candidate will be trained to grind or lap and polish optical surfaces, and generate mechanical dimensions on mounting surfaces of optical components to the highest accuracies. The successful candidate will work with state of the art metrology and production technologies.

Primary Responsibilities:
Operate 2,3 or 5 axis optical processing equipment with Siemens or Bosch controllers
Read and interpret optical drawings and follow work instructions to process optical components
Use and read micrometer and calipers and the ability to learn use of precision optical measuring devices
Detect small imperfections in parts being processed
Strong mathematical skills in geometry and trigonometry
An understanding of cutting speeds and feeds
Qualifications & Experience:
Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
College Certificate in CNC machining or similar program an asset
Understanding of the Metric System is an asset
Highly effective communications skills
Share in the commitment towards a positive workplace culture
Proven ability to solve technical problems and make sound decisions
Highly motivated with a demonstrated positive attitude
Willingness to learn and acquire knowledge/understanding through study, instruction or experience

The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal reference check and obtain/maintain a Government of Canada security clearance and any applicable clearances with respect to the handling and transfer of controlled goods.
