You could be on the YMCA Board of Directors!

YMCA Board of Directors

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is a charitable organization “…dedicated to the growth of all persons in spirit, mind and body, and to their sense of belonging to each other and the global community.” Supporting our values of caring, honesty, inclusiveness, respect and responsibility, we are looking for committed volunteers who are wishing to serve on our Board of Directors or as Committee Members.

The YMCA is a charitable organization governed by a Board of Directors consisting of 16 individuals who represent Simcoe, districts of Parry Sound and Muskoka. With 1,000 full and part-time staff and 750 community volunteers, the YMCA annually engages over 100,000 children, youth, adults and families through a variety of programs and services.

As a volunteer board, the directors determine the vision and strategy for the organization, set policy as well as provide guidance and direction for the association’s CEO. Members of the Board of Directors are expected to share the values of the YMCA, be willing to work in a team environment, attend monthly board meetings, play an active role on a board committee and support our annual giving campaign.

Successful candidates for our Board of Directors will be presented to the membership at the association’s Annual General Meeting in November. Directors will serve a three year term. Interested candidates should submit a letter/resume outline your interest no later than May 31, 2013.

Committee members’ roles and responsibilities include in depth reviews in major areas of discussion and making appropriate recommendations to the board for approval. The board operates through 4 main committees: Governance, Finance and Audit, Philanthropy, and Global Initiatives. Applications for committee members are accepted on an ongoing basis.
